Orientation program for freshers – Academic Year 2020/2021 – 33rd batch

Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna has successfully organized the orientation program  for the newly admitted students (Academic year – 2020/2021) on 10^th and 11^th of October, 2022 at the main Auditorium of the Faculty of Agriculture in Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi from 09.30 am – 04.00 pm. The inaugural session was well attended by Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, students, resource persons and other invitees. The welcome address of this orientation program was delivered by Mr. Balamayooran, President, Students’ union, Faculty of Agriculture, following that a special address was given by Dr.S.Vasantharuba, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture. Thereafter, sessions of the orientation were started with series of lectures. Snr. Prof. G. Mikunthan (Former chairman, Exam offense and disciplinary committee, University of Jaffna), Dr. K. Pakeerathan (Academic representative: Centre for Gender Equity and Equality (CGEE), University of Jaffna), Dr. R. Eeswaran (IQAC coordinator, Faculty of Agriculture), Mr. V. Raguvarman (Sports coordinator, Kilinochchi premises), Mr. T. Indrakumar (Marshal, University of Jaffna- Kilinochchi premises), Mr. S. Ayngaran, (Assistant registrar, Welfare service, University of Jaffna), Mr. K. Venugoban (Instructor,Computer unit), Dr. N. Kannan (Student counsellor, Faculty of Agriculture) and Mr. S. Ketheeswaren (Librarian (Acting), University of Jaffna) served as the resource persons. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Thilakshan, Vice President, Students’ union, Faculty of Agriculture. The orientation program was ended with the student interaction session. A total number of 134 students attended the first day of the program and 133 students have attended the second day of the program. Mrs Kasthuri Kajeevan (Lecturer Probationary, Department of Agricultural Chemistry) and Miss Kamshajini Raveenthiran (Lecturer Probationary, Department of Agricultural Economics) organized this orientation program with the support of the Agriculture students’ union (30^th batch) and under the guidance of the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna.
