A traditional paddy harvesting day was organized by the faculty at Integrated farm and training centre, Parasankulum, Puliyankulum on 09th February 2022.    Vice-Chancellor Prof.S.Srisatkunarajah has graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. N .Kannan obtained an outstanding doctoral thesis award for his excellent PhD research in the field of environmental engineering at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia. He completed his PhD successfully in 2020 with a thesis titled, customized hydrochar from biomass materials for water treatment. He made a comprehensive evaluation of biomass conversion into hydrochar using hydrothermal carbonization process. He used novel isotherm, kinetic, chemometric and thermodynamic techniques for studying adsorption mechanism of pollutants by an engineered hydrochar. In addition, he has successfully developed a techno-economic model for the hydrothermal conversion of biomass in an eco-friendly manner using Aspen Plus modelling tool.
